Dorothy Anne (Schoeber) Harrison, 91, of Glen Carbon, Ill. (formerly of Collinsville), born September 18, 1922 in Granite City, Ill., died on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Dorothy grew up in Granite City, Ill. She married William (Bill) Harrison on November 25, 1944 in Granite City. They were married 40 years until his death on August 25, 1985. They owned Wells-Harrison Tire Co. in Collinsville from 1961-2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Otto Schoeber and Eva (MacDonald) Schoeber, and an infant brother Howard.
She is survived by her children: Rich (Dianne) Harrison of Collinsville, Tom (Kim) Harrison of Edwardsville and Barbara (Walter) Hunter of Edwardsville. Her grandchildren are: Kyle (Lori) Harrison, Karly Harrison, Ben (Valerie) Hunter and Caitlin (Chris) Hadeler. Great-grandchildren are: Anna Harrison and Hadasah Hunter.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Dorothy took an active interest in their lives and attended every function and activity from Little League to school plays to concerts. She loved hosting her grandchildren for dinner and a night at the Fox Theater. She also attended weekly summer performances at the St. Louis Muny Theater. Dorothy enjoyed entertaining, decorating, dancing, playing bridge and working daily cross word puzzles. Dorothy also enjoyed many years of traveling. She especially looked forward to the annual "family girls weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating.
Dorothy donated her body to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. as her final gift. In lieu of flowers, it was Dorothys wishes that donations be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN. 38105
