Douglas Michael Daly, 65, of Collinsville, Illinois, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 14, 2026.
Doug was born on March 31, 1961, in Highland, Illinois. Those who knew Doug will remember a man of quiet humility, steadfast faith, and genuine kindness—a devoted husband, loyal friend, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He lived a life marked by faithful service, unwavering love for his family, and a deep appreciation for God’s creation.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Melony Daly, with whom he shared a life firmly grounded in faith, love, and devotion to the Lord. He also leaves behind his loving sisters, Denise Massa and Melinda Davis (Mike); his nephews, Adam McNeil (Josie), along with their daughter, Ambriel, and Austin Clark (Paige); as well as extended family, cherished friends, and many whose lives were quietly touched by his kindness and encouragement.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and those family members who welcomed him into his eternal home.
Professionally, Doug worked as an HVAC Engineer, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic. He was a graduate and proud alumnus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Throughout his career, he was known for his professionalism, integrity, and willingness to serve others.
Above all, Doug believed in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit. His faith was not merely something he professed—it was evident in the way he lived. Together with his beloved wife, he faithfully supported ministries dedicated to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, desiring that others would come to know the hope found in Him alone. Doug loved his family and friends deeply and never hesitated to speak of Christ whenever the Lord opened the door. Yet he lived with genuine humility, always preferring that attention be directed not toward himself, but toward the Savior he loved and faithfully served.
Doug found great joy outdoors. Whether camping beneath the stars, canoeing quiet rivers, hiking wooded trails, or spending time boating and fishing with family and friends, he delighted in the beauty of God’s creation. He was also an accomplished scuba diver whose ease in the water often prompted others to say he could “swim like a fish.” His adventurous spirit, generous heart, gentle nature, quiet faith, and unwavering love for those closest to him will be deeply missed.
Though our hearts grieve, we do not grieve without hope, for the promise of Christ remains sure:
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” John 11:25–26 (KJV)
A Celebration of Life visitation and prayer service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Illinois.
