Obituary

Edwin Peter Seitz, 100, previously from Yucaipa California and Jasper Indiana passed away at his home in Collinsville Illinois on February 21, 2014.

Edwin was born on Feb 5, 1914 in Haysville Indiana the only son of George and Ameila (Stamm) Seitz. On June 27, 1946 he married Evelyn Dorothy Seitz (nee Meter) in Huntingburg Indiana. Edwin was a veteran of the United States Army, 2nd Infantry Division (Indianheads) serving his country during World War II as a radio operator from Omaha Beach through VE Day where he earned a Bronze Star medal. After the war, Edwin was employed as a truck-driver for Claremont Trucking, formerly Jasper and Chicago, for 20 years. Ed retired and relocated to California where he enjoyed traveling, fishing, and was a skilled pool player.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, George and Amelia Seitz, two sisters, Victoria Lottes and Olive Aulenbacher, and one granddaughter, Micki Goodwin. Surviving are his 5 children, James (Irene) Seitz of Jasper IN, Eugenia Shirley Nichols of Redlands CA, Nancy (James) Colocino of Irvine CA, Georgia (Walt) Schefft of Collinsville IL, and Wayne (Connie) Seitz of St Louis, MO, one nephew, Robert(Barbara) Lottes, and two nieces, Marie Harder and Linda Harris, 13 grandchildren (Mike, Patty, and Terri Seitz, Dane (Julie) and Paul (Robin) LaGrange, Lara and Megan Colocino, Mark and Paul (Mary) Schefft, and Stacy (James) Cabanas, Jody Seitz, and Kelly (Chris) Klima. 15 great grand-children, and several great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to St Paul''s Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana.

At his request, the cremated remains will be interred at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Memorial Cemetery in St Louis MO.
