For decades she was known to many as "The Cake Lady."

Mrs. Edwina Florence Kimutis, nee Okai, passed away March 7, 2014 at her home in Collinsville surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Madison, Ill., on October 8, 1929, and grew up there and in East St. Louis. In 1949, she married Raphael Kimutis who preceded her in death in 1989. Eddie and Ray raised their family in Collinsville. In her early years she was involved in Girl Scouts, volunteered at the Fox Theater and volunteered at Salute to the Arts. She enjoyed sewing, artistic crafts, dancing, music, travel, bingo, slot machines, her lady friends, and her beloved dog, Maddie. She was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

She will be dearly missed by daughters, Kathleen Kimutis, Karen (Jerry) Buhrmester, Nancy Kimutis (Kevin) Brennan, Janice (George) Schnaus; and sons, Stephen (Cindy) Kimutis and James (Cheryl) Kimutis; granddaughters, Jessica (Chris) Zengel, Lindsay Brennan, Courtney Kimutis, Stephanie (Nick) Luchtefeld, and Haley Schnaus; grandson, Shane Madden; and great- grandchildren, Kelsey, Connor, and Aubrey Luchtefeld.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tadeusz and Mary Okai; brother, Joseph Okai; and is survived by brother Donald (Opal) Okai; sister, Emily (Glenn) Hirst; sisters-in-law, Bernadette Kimutis, Marlene Kimutis, Amelia Okai; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in the form of masses to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church or to Spencer Pet Rescue in O'Fallon, Ill. and will be accepted at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.herrfuneral.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father John Beveridge officiating. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
