Elizabeth Fifer, age 87, of Edwardsville, died at 2:48 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Starkville, MS., the daughter of the late Archie and Mattie May Perkins Prater. She married John Henry Fifer. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by five daughters: Josephine Taggart of St. Louis, Eleanor Fay Fifer of St. Louis, Rachel Fifer of Glen Carbon, Lou Ann Anderson of Edwardsville and Felicia Fifer of Glen Carbon; three sons: David Fifer of Edwardsville, John Fifer of Edwardsville and George Fifer of Edwardsville: two sisters: Alma Prater-Billups of St. Louis and Josie Lee Sherman of Starkville, MS; two brothers: Joe Sherman Jr. of Starkville, MS and J.Q. Prater of Cleveland, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Will Fifer.
Mrs. Fifer was a homemaker for many years and greatly enjoyed entertaining and being with her family. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness for 48 years. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Edwardsville.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Edwardsville with Brother Gus Boyd officiating.
Per her request, cremation rites will be accorded.
