Ella married the love of her life, Robert Kalist, on August 26th, 1959; celebrating 42 years of love and life together.
Awaiting her arrival in heaven, Ella was reunited with her parents, her beloved husband, and many other dear friends and family members.
Ella is survived by her sisters, Lucy Duncan, Barbra Gipperich, and Betty Mills; five children, Steven Kalist (Karla), Kristine Kurant (John), Cynthia Booher ( William), Daniel Kalist, and Theresa McDuffie; Grandchildren, Steven (Tara), Danielle (Doug), Sarah (Patrick), Lindsey (Jon), and Christopher, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.
Being from St. Louis, Ella had a passion for the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. She loved watching them play any chance she could. Ella also had a kind and giving heart; she was known to donate to numerous charities and organizations. Her giving nature didn't stop there, as Ella's career was also a passion of hers. She worked in the nursing field for over 35 years, from being a CNA, to a med-tech, her favorite role was being an in-home caregiver for the elderly. Ella loved what she did so much, that she worked until she was 77 years old. Ella also loved going to Bingo, playing scratchers, and even going the Casino, where she always found luck on her favorite machine, The Red, White and Blue 7's. Ella also loved spending time with her family. When the kids were growing up, she was known to pack a picnic when the family would go fishing. She never missed an opportunity to make every moment special.
Ella will be greatly missed by all her family members, friends, and those whom her kindness touched throughout her years of caregiving and giving back.
The family requests all donations be made to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation , American Heart Association , or American Lung Association in Ella's Honor.
