Obituary

Elmer F. Molitor went peacefully to his Eternal Life with his Savior, Jesus Christ on October 7, 2013. He was born November 2, 1918 in Germantown, Illinois, the fifth of nine children of Henry and Caroline (Lampe) Molitor. He and Mary C. Watson married on November 25, 1943, at St. Helen''s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, his parents, and six siblings. He is survived by his seven children: Jane Franckowiak (Craig), Bill (Kathleen), Susan Fitzgerald, Kathy Steipp (Rick), Steven (Susan), Dan, Vicki O''Harra (David), twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his two sisters Chris Walsh and Dolly Lampe, two sisters-in-law Mildred Coates and Allene Hopwood, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends and business associates.

Elmer served in the Civil Air Patrol and later the Army Air Corp. After World War II he earned an honorable discharge. Elmer, his wife, and daughter returned to his hometown of Germantown, and then settled in Fairmont City and eventually Collinsville, Illinois. Elmer was the owner and operator of Molitor Lincoln - Mercury from 1953 to 1998. He served on the St. Louis area Lincoln - Mercury Dealer Advertisement Board for 38 years. Elmer was an active member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville for 63 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 58 years and a member of the American Legion.

There will be a visitation on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsvillle, Illinois. A memorial Mass in celebration of Elmer''s life will immediately follow at the church, officiated by Fr. John Beveridge.
