He was born April 6, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Joseph J. and Thelma L. Alfaro (nee Richardson). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph E. Alfaro, Donald D. Alfaro, Raymond L. Alfaro, Pete S. Alfaro and sisters Velma L. Penn and Olive Lou McCalebb. His brother, George Alfaro, passed the same day as Dee.

Dee proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. He attained the rank of Spec-4 and was a light weight vehicle driver during his two-year enlistment. He was honorably discharged in October of 1970. Other places of employment include Curly Clothing Company, Biltwell Clothing Company, True Manufacturing, Lanter Courier Company and, Advanced Auto Parts. Dee ultimately retired from American Steel in Granite City on April 13, 2013 after 40 years of dedicated service where he was a crane operator.

Dee met his sweetheart Betty Jane Alfaro (nee Heil) while working at Curly Clothing Company. Betty knew as soon as she saw him that she would marry the handsome devil. Three months later, on December 31, 1971, she and Dee were married in the basement of her mother and father''s home in Madison, Il. Dee was a faithful and devoted husband. There was never a doubt that Betty was the love of his life and the fire that fueled his soul.

He loved the Lord with all his heart and, together with Betty, raised his family in the Pentecost faith. He was a member of The Apostolic Church of Belleville. Dee appreciated Pastor George Szabolcsi and his wife, Sister Dorie, for their constant faith and presence for him and his family.

Surviving along with his wife are his children, grandchildren and siblings. CHILDREN: Christopher (Amanda) Alfaro of Wood River, Il, Eric Alfaro of Madison, Il, Misty (Valerie) Alfaro-Skinner of Florissant, Mo, and Sherry Hamm of Madison, Il. GRANDCHILDREN: Andrew, Natashia, Austin, Ellie, Caroliine and AlexJob. SIBLINGS: Lu Meade Brawley of Ironton, Mo, and Thomas L. Alfaro of Belleville.

Dee will be remembered for many things. He loved the Lord, his wife, children and grandchildren more than anything. He loved to fish and watch The History Channel with his dog, Molly. He loved to tell you what to do; for he had already done it, fixed it, moved it, said it and watched it. His family loved to pick at him and lovingly gave him the nick name PawPaw Crabs, which he loved. Though he did not live to be 100 years old, Dee was able to experience all facets of life. He had the heart of his pretty girl, the love of his children and made wonderful memories along the way.
