Ernest H. Akers was welcomed home by his Lord & Savior on January 6, 2023 at Caseyville Nursing Home.

Ernest was the son of Ernest Roscoe Akers and Eula Olive (Daniels) Akers.  He was born January 22, 1939. He married Edith Elaine (Garner) Akers on June 11, 1972.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Roscoe Akers & Eula Olive (Daniels) Akers, two sisters, Eleanor Murdock and Mary Loui Mails, two uncles Courney Daniels and James Daniels, three aunts Marble, Rosie and Roxie, also two brother-in-laws, Mevin Shaver and Lucien Daigneault.

He is survived by his wife Edith Elaine (Garner) Akers and one son Wayne Akers; two sisters Anna Shaver and Violet Daigneault and one brother Raymond (Janet) Akers.

Ernest was in the Army. He worked at doors and welcomed people at the First Baptist Church of Maryville.

Ernest was a devoted husband and father.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville.  He enjoyed woodworking, putting puzzles together and yard work.  He liked to play golf with his two golf buddies.  He worked for General Motors, in Hazelwood and Wentzville, MO for 30 years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2022, from 11:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Maryville, IL , 7110 State Route 162, Maryville, IL.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Maryville with Pastor Tom Hufty officiating.  Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
