Ernest H. Tarr, 94, of Troy, Ill., born Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1920, in Maryland Heights, Mo., died at 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Tarr was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served at the Battle of the Bulge and at Normandy. He was a member of the Collinsville American Legion Post 365 and the Meadow Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Tarr rode his bike after he retired for over 38,000 miles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Marie, nee Digirolamo, Tarr, whom he married on March 9, 1946; his parents, Frank and Virginia, nee May, Tarr; brothers, Robert Tarr and Alonza Tarr; and sisters, Mary Tarr, Jess Donnelly, Frances Newcomb and Carrie Tarr.
Surviving are his children, Linda (Dale) Huff, Rosemary (Daniel) Lilley of Highland, Ill., Ernest (Tammy) Tarr of Collinsville, Ill., Frank (Barb) Tarr of Collinsville, Ill., Michael (Patsy) Tarr of Marmaduke, Ark., Sandy (Dale Redman) Steed of Winona, Mo., Rick (Cindy) Tarr of Collinsville, Ill., Carol (Jim) Butters of Houston, Texas and Patricia Wallis of Collinsville, Ill.; 26 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
