Esther Rose Schottel, nee Kissel, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born June 7, 1923, in Fults, Ill., died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.



Mrs. Schottel was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, Ill.



Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Rosa, nee Dick, Kissel; and a brother, Alvin Kissel.



Surviving are her husband, Charles Schottel of Collinsville, Ill.; daughter, Sheila K. (Charles) Westhoff of Edwardsville, Ill.; son, Bruce C. (Julie) Schottel of Troy, Ill.; three grandchildren, Grant Westhoff, Andrew Schottel and Alyssa Schottel; brother Arthur Kissel of Walton, Ind.; and sister, Pearl Griebel of Millstadt, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ in Collinsville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at the church with the Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Interment in St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
