Ethel Verla Hutsler, nee Farris, 93, of Caseyville, Ill., born Nov. 30, 1917, in Infield, Ill., died at 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at her residence.



Ethel was a member of the Anchor of Life Assembly of God Church. For many years she was a seamstress in the St. Louis area and worked at such places as Carol Lee Fashions. She was also a loving foster parent and many children referred to her as "Mom" or "Aunt."



She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Lloyd Hutsler whom she married on Feb. 12, 1934; parents, Christopher Columbus and Eva Lena, nee Hunt, Farris; several brothers and sisters; and sons-in-law, Bill Land, Lewis Fitch, Lionel Gray and Carol Johnston.



Surviving are her son, James Hutsler of Caseyville, Ill.; three daughters, Darlene Fitch of Benton, Ill., Joyce Gray of Lebanon, Ill., and Sharon Johnston of Millstadt, Ill.; a sister, Betty Allen of Broughton, Ill.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wilkins Roberts of Warner Robbins, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home, Caseyville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at the funeral home with Pastor Wes Hart and Pastor Dean Severin officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
