Ethel G. Schiller, nee Thiel, 89, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Nov. 15, 1921, in Collinsville, Ill., died at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Mrs. Schiller was retired from Illinois Bell Telephone as an operator with more than 25 years of service. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, member of the quilters for many years and past president of the Collinsville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active with the legion for many years working the fish fries.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Schiller; parents, Nicholas and Ethel, nee Krieder, Thiel; five brothers; and seven sisters.
Surviving are her sons, Augie (Judy) Schiller of Paducah, Ky., and Tom (Carol) Schiller of Parkville, Md.; grandchildren, Bryan (Jackie) Schiller of Edgewood, Md., and JoAnne (Greg) Gatto of Edgewood, Md.; and three great-grandchildren.
