Evelyn Marvine
Leeper
August 6, 1931 – May 2, 2023
Evelyn Marvine Leeper, 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Evelyn was born on August 6, 1931 in Potosi, Missouri to parents, Marvin Lee and Mildred Leon (nee Cook) Nicholson.
Evelyn graduated from Roosevelt High School, and dedicated her life to taking care of her family and loved ones. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Evelyn was a generous woman, faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois, and enjoyed volunteering her time to help special needs children. She volunteered with the Easter Seals and in the special needs classroom at Caseyville Elementary School for 16 years. Evelyn worked with children as a teacher's assistant at Little Lamb Preschool in Granite City, and was a special education teacher's assistant at LeClair School in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Evelyn was an avid reader, and kept up her routine of going to the hair salon, followed by a visit to the library every Friday. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved traveling with her children. She enjoyed the theater, and loved going to the Muny and Fabulous Fox. She adored her children, and, even moreso, her grandchildren, and she never missed a game or activity of theirs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Leeper; parents, Marvin and Mildred Nicholson; brother, Robby Lee Nicholson; nephew, Richard Lee Holt; and brother-in-law, William Harper.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael (Lisa) Leeper; daughters, Cathy (Victor) Reznack and Rebecca (Dr. Douglas) DesPain; grandchildren, Andrew (Crystal) Reznack, Justin Leeper, Christina (David) Griffiths; great-grandchildren, Warren Leeper, Hannah and Jonathan Griffiths, and Ainsley Reznack; sister, Sharon (the late William) Harper; nieces, Teresa (Jeffrey) Seery; nephews, John and David Nicholson.

Family will receive guests for visitation from 9:30am - 11:00am, and the funeral service will begin at 11:00am, with burial immediately following in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates.
Evelyn's family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Meridian Village Memory Care, a special thanks to Jennifer at Vitas Hospice, who was with them from the very beginning.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 600 Craig Road, Suite #300 in St. Louis, Missouri, or online at stjude.org.
