Evyln I. "Evie" Clapp, nee Italiano, 78, of Spring Hill, Tenn., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born Nov. 13, 1935, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 10:36 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn.

Evie was the sixth grade teacher for many years at SS Peter & Paul School and was a substitute teacher with Collinsville Unit 10. She also worked for Head Start and was a social worker. She was former owner and operator of Grandma's Jewels. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Jobs Daughters and White Shrine and while attending U of Miami belonged to Chi Mega Sorority. She also attended Lindenwood College for two years. She was very active in the Junior Service Club and volunteered directing plays in the Collinsville area. Evie will always be remembered for having a smile on her face.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter "Pete" Clapp, whom she married on July 13, 1957; and her parents, Frank and Ruby, nee Settles, Italiano.

Surviving are her daughter, Margie (Nick) Thiel of Spring Hill, Tenn.; son, Frank (Leora) Clapp of Troy, Ill.; grandchildren, Margaret (Randy) Gibson, Joy (Broc) Sova, Pete (Tarah) Thiel, Mike Thiel and Caitlyn Clapp; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
