Frances L. Janik, 91, passed away on December 25, 2022 in Godfrey, Illinois.  Frances was born on August 7, 1931 in Madison, IL to parents John and Anna (nee Borosky) Urban.

Frances retired from Madison County Courthouse, where she worked for 20 years as a receptionist.  After retiring, she worked for Neiman Marcus and Mr. Donut in Godfrey, Illinois.  Fran loved traveling, cooking for her family get-togethers and dancing.  She volunteered at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Fairmont City, Illinois for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony "Tony" Janik; son Dennis Janik; her parents John and Anna Urban; sisters Irene (Frank) Gavlick and Dorothy (Stanley) Serwatka; and a nephew Jerry Serwatka.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons Tony "Sonny" Janik and his partner Linda Garrett; Stephen "Pepe" and his wife Janice Janik; gr and children Derrek (Marie) Janik and Ashley (Cortez) Janik; great-grandson Colin Janik; nephews Johnny (Laura) Gavlick, Frankie (Leah) Gavlick, Terry Serwatka; a niece Paula (Eric) Elson; many great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved very much.  Also surviving is her long-time traveling and dancing companion Tom Markavick (If there was a polka band in town-you can bet that Fran and Tom would be there!).

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.  Funeral services to immediately follow at 2:00 PM with internment Sunset Hill Memorial Estates.
