Francis G. "Butch" Vacca

Francis G. "Butch" Vacca, 79, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born April 12, 1937, in Collinsville, Ill., passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, in St. Louis, Mo.

Butch was a graduate of Collinsville High School. After graduation he worked at Granite City Steel for four years. He then began his employment for the city of Collinsville, retiring after forty years of service as the Director of the waste water plant. He was very active in the community being involved with the Knights of Columbus 1712, Lion''s Club and the Collinsville Jaycees to mention a few. He loved traveling with his RV and spending time with his family. Butch will be fondly remembered for his 1930 Model A that he drove in local parades for many years. He was a self taught and accomplished mechanic and handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Olivia, nee Esicar, Vacca.

Surviving are his loving wife Sandra, nee Hoehn, Vacca of Glen Carbon, Ill.; children, Brad (Terry) Vacca of Kampsville, Ill., Shelly (Jim), nee Vacca, Welch of St. Charles, Mo. Tony Vacca of Austin, Tx.; sister, Dolores (Bob) Oberto of Collinsville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Ben (Natalie) Vacca, Jeremy (Stephanie) Vacca, Chad Welch, Alexa Welch, Bradley Welch, Chase Welch; 6 great grandchildren, Gracie, Elle, J.D., Ty, London, Amelia.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Father John Beveridge officiating. Inurnment will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill., with Deacon Jimmy Ghiglione officiating.
