Freddie Belcher

Freddie Belcher, 100, of Glen Carbon, IL., formerly of Granite City, IL.,born June 27, 1918, in Oxford, N.C., passed away Monday, December 3, 2018, in St. Louis, MO., with his loving family by his side.

Freddie valiantly served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Gunnery Instructor.  After leaving the service, he spent his entire career as a Federal employee supporting the military as a Supply Management Officer for the U.S. Army Troop Support Command.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved being together with his family.  Freddie was a lifetime student of Finance and investing and his favorite past time was doing financial research and following the stock market.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 59 years Margaret A. "Peggy" Belcher, whom he married September 16, 1950, and passed away September 17, 2009; his parents, Thomas William Belcher and Molly, nee Dickerson, Belcher; his son Freddie T. "Butch" Belcher

Surviving are his loving children, Marsha (Robert) Walker of Glen Carbon, IL., Dr. Mark Belcher of Bunker Hill, IL.; his grandchildren, Jesse (Beth) Walker, Sarah (Adam) Wetstein and Abby (Troy) Chiefari.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral service for Freddie will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.  Burial with Military Honors will follow the funeral service at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
