Obituary

George "Bogie" Redmon, age 77, of Glen Carbon, IL, born May 7, 1943, in E. St. Louis, IL passed in the early morning of February 1, 2021.

Bogie loved growing up in Collinsville and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He cherished many great memories while participating in athletics and social activities while attending Collinsville High School, and later at the University of Illinois, Champaign.  While attending the University of Illinois, Bogie was a member of Beta Theta Pi and President of Tribe of Illini and the Varsity "I" Association.

Upon college graduation, Bogie and his father Gant were State Farm agents in Collinsville.  He was in the Air National Guard as an Airman first class.  Bogie was an agent with State Farm Insurance for 42 years.  In 2007, he joined his son at Redmon Insurance Agency where he loved assisting the office team and talking with customers.  In the Collinsville community, he was past president of Collinsville Lions Club and a member of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce. He attended First Baptist Church of Maryville and recently served on the Village of Glen Carbon, Zoning Board of Appeals.

Many associate Bogie with athletic accomplishments in his younger years, however all who know Bogie see a unique and wonderful man that inherently represents all that is good, genuine, caring, humble, compassionate, with unconditional love and a heart of gold.  His positive glow and big smile affected everyone around him, and how he simply lived every day of his life as a shining example of a great man, father, mentor, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.  His one true hobby outside of spending time with family was riding his motorcycle.

Bogie was proceeded in death by his parents, Gant and Doris, nee Burnett, Redmon.

Surviving are his wife, Judie, nee Harlow, Redmon, whom he married June 4, 1966, in Collinsville IL; son Kai and wife Diane, nee Noll, Redmon of Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren Lawson and Lydia Redmon; sister Kay Long of Brighton, IL; brother Gant Redmon of Alexandria, VA; and many loved nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and past teammates and coaches.
