Gary Lee Soehnlin, 71, of Collinsville, IL past away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Highland Health Care in Highland, IL.

Gary was born on August 4, 1953 to Patricia Sue Moore and Norman L. Soehnlin. He is survived by his sons Gary Lee Soehnlin Jr. of Collinsville, IL, Joshua Lee Soehnlin (Robin) of Jerseyville, IL and two grandchildren Ruby and Oliver Soehnlin. He is also survived by his brother Michael Soehnlin of Lebanon, IL, his sister Linda Gaskill of Collinsville, IL, his half-sisters Tracy Allison (Steve) of Swansea, IL, Theresa Griffin (Cory) of Collinsville, IL, Tamara Eberhart of Caseyville, IL, his two stepbrothers Raymond Leslie and Melvin Pritchett both of Collinsville IL, stepmother Brenda Soehnlin of Collinsville, IL, his aunt Lois Meyers, Missouri and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and many relatives.

Gary enjoyed spending time in nature and living and working on or near the Mississippi River. Gary joined the US Army in 1970 where he was honorably discharged due to major hearing loss. Gary worked for Anderson Hospital, IL in electrical maintenance and as an electrician for National Marine in Wood River, IL where he put shore power on and off for the barges for many years. Gary spent the later part of his life down in Texas with his sister enjoying the beaches and wildlife. Gary enjoyed boating, baseball, football and campfires.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Gary at Pere Marquette State Park on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Marina Pavilion down by the river.
