Gaylord K. "Red" Stout, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sept. 17, 1928, in Donnellson, Ill., died at 6:24 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Red along with his father helped develop Kendall Acres on the north end of Collinsville and was a former driver for Vandalia & Action bus lines. He also worked on the Arch and Time DC Trucking Company. He also enjoyed playing Santa during the holidays. Active member of Masonic Lodge 712 in Collinsville and Ainad Shriners for which he assisted in making funnel cakes at different events. Red was a loyal contributor to Shriner's Hospital and was very active at the local YMCA. Recently he was a very well known resident of Meridian Village and made a lot of friends with fellow residents and the staff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kendall M. and Francis R., nee Haworth, Stout; and two sisters, Alice Stout and Rosemary Platt.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, nee Bradley, Stout, whom he married on July 29, 1949; son, Kendall "Rusty" (Marianne) Stout of Farmington, Mo.; daughters, Llyle Morgan of Portland, Ore., Dana (Frank) Johns of Troy, Ill., and Andrea "Andi" Mercer of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Jason (Denise) Farnworth, Matthew (Denise) Stout, Jessice Stout, Denver Mercer, Desiree (Josh) Lienemann, Bethany Stout, Jennefer Marler, Cynde Harbison and Steven and Brian Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dana Heinritz of Collinsville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon, Ill., with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating. Per request cremation will be accorded.
