Gene J. Jackson, 96, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on November 11, 2021, at Liberty Village, Maryville, Illinois.

Gene was born September 25, 1925, to Burl and Minnie (Parmley) Jackson in Collinsville, Illinois.

He worked as a switchman on the railroad for many years before retiring.  He was big golfer and loved to restore old tractors in his spare time.

Gene was preceded by his wife, Beverly Jackson in 2004; daughter, Beverly J. Jackson in 2020; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son, Ron Jackson and wife Donna of Collinsville, Illinois; sisters: Maude Skelton of Edwardsville, Illinois, Janelle Crowe of Caseyville, Illinois, and Carol Cashion of Caseyville, Illinois; grandchildren:  Kimberly, Matthew, Sarah, and Kristen; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois. Funeral service will take place at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Habermehl officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Illinois.
