Genevieve A. Shasteen, nee Galinat, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born Jan. 6, 1923, in Collinsville, Ill., died at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Mrs. Shasteen was a life long resident of Collinsville. She was baptized and confirmed at Jerusalem Lutheran Church. She attended Collinsville schools and was a graduate of Summers College of Commerce. She was employed as a bookkeeper both in Collinsville and St. Louis. She was a Sunday School teacher, the church organist for 50 + years, and the church treasurer. She was a member of the Dorcas Society, LWML, Collinsville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Friends of the Collinsville Library, and treasurer of the Collinsville Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Shasteen, whom she married on Aug. 4, 1946, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church; her parents, Samuel and Anna, nee Grigalat, Galinat; a brother, Robert; a sister, Lucille; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn; and great-granddaughter, Izzabelle Shasteen.
Surviving are three sons, Larry (Ellen) Shasteen of Collinsville, Ill., Dennis Shasteen of Collinsville, Ill., and Gary (Nina) Shasteen of Fairview Heights, Ill.; grandsons, Joshua (Chandra) Shasteen of Collinsville, Ill., Adam Shasteen, Gregory (Natalie) Shasteen of Bartlett, Ill., Samuel Shasteen of Collinsville, Ill., and Nicholas Shasteen of Collinsville, Ill.; granddaughter, Katie Shasteen of Seoul, Korea; great-grandchildren, Leila Shasteen and Serah Shasteen.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Rev. Dr. Alvin Kollmann and Rev. Douglas Nicely officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
