George Dewey Smith Jr., 84, of Collinsville, Illinois died Saturday, January 23rd, 2016. He was born Sunday, December 13th, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to George Dewey and Della (Beguelin) Smith, Sr. He married Margie Rector on Sunday, July 7th, 1957 in Carbondale, Illinois.

Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, Bob McAllister and one nephew, Scott McAllister.

He is survived by his wife, Margie; children, Linda Smith of Collinsville, Illinois and Sara (Terry) Tipton of Marine, Illinois. Dewey is further survived by one sister, Sara (Bob) Clark of Vandalia, Illinois; one niece, Susan (Darrel) Casey of Vandalia, Illinois; two grandchildren, Brian Tipton and Samantha Tipton, one nephew, Brad McAllister of Highland, Illinois and many cousins.

Dewey was a Civil Servant with the 375th Com Squad at Scott Air Force Base and was a member of the Caseyville United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, January 25th, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Herr Funeral Home, Caseyville, Illinois. Funeral will be Tuesday, January 26th, 2016 at 11:00 am at Herr Funeral Home, Caseyville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made in Dewey''s honor to the Caseyville United Methodist Church.
