Gerald W. Kopp

Gerald W. Kopp, 79, of Maryland Heights, MO., born November 8, 1938 in St. Louis, MO., passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in St. Charles, MO.

Gerald was a 1957 graduate of the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO.  He then served in the US Army with a hard hat dive unit.  He was an avid trumpet player throughout his youth in jazz and military bands.  Gerald will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his love for entertaining.  He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  Faith was very important to Gerald, he read the bible daily and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Maryland Heights, MO., where he was active in the church choir.   Gerald will also be remembered for his time in the barber shop quartet and, later in life, his beautiful poetry he wrote.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Margaret P. Kopp, who passed away in 2017. He dearly loved and missed her everyday.

Surviving are his sons, Michael (wife Julie) Kopp of Atlanta, GA., Bryan Kopp of St. Peters, MO.; his sister Lois Lenzen; his beloved grandchildren, Oscar, Cameron, Elise, Joseph and Violet.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.

Funeral:  Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.  Inurnment with full military honors will follow the service at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
