Gerald G. Sugg, 82, of Granite City, IL., passed away in the early hours of December 2, 2022. He was born to parents Earl and Mary (Brewer) Sugg on November 11, 1940 in Pocahontas, IL. Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers, Bobby, Donald, Richard and a brother who passed away in infancy.

After graduating from high school, Gerald pursued a career in the military, he was stationed in Korea . After his discharge, he became a firefighter for the city of Venice, IL., serving for 10 years. He then moved to the Long Lake Fire Department in Pontoon Beach, IL., serving for another 40 years until his retirement. He married his wife, Margaret, in Venice on April 21, 1966. They lived together in Venice until 1980, at which time they moved to Granite City, where Gerald lived out the rest of his years. Together they had two children; Kimmy and Lil Jerry.

Left to carry on his memory is his wife, Margaret; his children Kimmy Sugg and Jerry Sugg, Jr.; grandchildren Crystal Godfrey Jonathan (Michelle) Dobler, Jaremi (Ashley) Dobler, Jessie (Mandy) Perroni, Alec (Kelsey) Dobler, Jordan (Jasmine) Sugg, and Tapanga Dobler, Austin Caroll; and great-grandchildren Jace, Esemee, Carter, Rylee, Carson, Aubrey, Rian.

A visitation will be held at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, IL., on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 5 - 7 pm. with a service to start at 7pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 9th at 11:00am, at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
