Gerold D. "Jerry" Erno, 79, of Caseyville, Ill., born Saturday, Dec. 21, 1935, in Odin, Ill., died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Jerry retired as a construction engineer. He worked for Schaffer Contracting, Hoefkken Contracting, and was part-owner of the Mississippi Valley Mining and Water. He served in the Seabees from 1953 to 1957. He enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Mareta, nee Walker, Erno; and two sisters, Sandra Maggard, and Sharon Connelly.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce, nee Matychowiak, Erno; his children, Cheri Erno of Caseyville, Ill., Timothy (Carlene) Erno of Geneseo, Ill., Kathy Schroeter of Centralia, Ill., and Dee Ann Albers of Centralia, Ill.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at the funeral home, with Msgr. James Blazine officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
