Gladys May Shoemaker, nee Bell, 89, of Caseyville, Ill., born Jan. 30, 1924, in Madison, Ill., died at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Caseyville, Ill.
Gladys was former owner of Gladys's Tavern and a babysitter of 20 years.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Arthur Burgess, Anton Perotti and Charles Shoemaker; her parents, Frank and Cecil, nee Emerson, Bell; two brothers, Arthur Bell and Harold Bell; and three sisters, Edna Bell, Dorothy Bell and Alice Schuler.
Surviving are her daughter, Donna (Gary) Emerson of Fairview Heights, Ill.; two sons, Gary (Beverly) Shoemaker of Belleville, Ill., and Kevin Shoemaker of Caseyville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Brian Emerson Sr., Heather Emerson, Gary Shoemaker Jr., and Linda Meyer; four sisters, Viola Campbell of Collinsville, Ill., Doris (Bill) Smith of Collinsville, Ill., Juanita Schroll of Portage, Ind., and Shirley (John) Wittwer of Lincoln, Neb.; her brother, Marvin Bell of Collinsville, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Dallis, Dylan, Brian Emerson Jr., Tess, Madison, Brody, Amaya, Mariah and Ari; and step-grandchildren, Brian Giesegh, Amanda Cook, Adam Giesegh, Brandon Giesegh, Phillip Biggerstaff and David Biggerstaff.
