Gloria McCanna (nee Dieu) 95, of Collinsville, entered into the company of our Lord on October 26th, 2019. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, John J. McCanna, her parents Louis Dieu, Sr. and Laura Dieu (nee Siener), and her brother Louis Dieu, Jr.  She is survived by her daughters Melissa McCanna and Laura McCanna, niece Alene Hill (nee Dieu), and nephews Louis Dieu and Mark Dieu, and many dear friends.

Mrs. McCanna graduated from Washington University School of Nursing in 1945 and enjoyed her career as a surgical nurse at Barnes Hospital. Gloria supported her community over the years, serving on both the board and as a volunteer, with the SIUE Friends of Lovejoy Library. A long time member of the Collinsville Women's Club, she joined in the 1950s and remained an active member until last year. Over the years, she also volunteered with the Collinsville History Museum, the Madison County Historical Society and, more recently, with the Belleville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Collinsville Memorial Public Library or Collinsville Woman's Club for art scholarships and art prizes. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.herrfuneral.com.

Visitation :  Friends may visit with the family 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.

Service: Mass for Gloria will begin at 10:00 a.m. November 2, 2019, at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Church 15 Plaza Square St. Louis, MO 63103.

Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
