COLLINSVILLE- George J. Kavaliunas Jr., 84, of Collinsville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
He was born on November 14, 1932 in Collinsville to George J. Sr. and Adele, nee Musso, Kavaliunas. He married Mary Ellen Lochmann on November 3, 1951 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Ill. Together they shared 65 years of marriage. She survives and resides in Collinsville, Ill.
Also surviving are his two children, Christine Seymore of Aurora, CO and William (Pamela) Kavaliunas of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Laurie Bradley, Eric Seymore, and Brad Seymore, all of CO., Christopher Kavaliunas of St. Louis, MO; and Shawn Kavaliunas of Caseyville, Ill. seven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Mary Ann Geno; Rose Marie (Tom) Brennan, Judy (Richard) McKenna, and; two sister-in-laws, Lee Ann (Roger) Conner and Maureen Lochmann; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Tom Lochmann, and several uncles, aunts and nephews.
George worked as the owner and operating manager for Lochmann Agency. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville for many years. He served as past president of the Collinsville Lions Club and was active with the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. George was a recognized oil painter and always enjoyed his time outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, spelunking and traveling new places with Mary Ellen and his children. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation: A visitation for George will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Herr Funeral Home and Crematory in Collinsville. A prayer service will commence prior to the visitation.
Service: A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville. A visitation will be held an hour prior the Mass. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville.
