Gregory Thomas Jones, 60, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Wednesday, June 30, 1954, in Granite City, Ill., passed away at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at his home.

In 1980, Greg graduated from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He practiced dentistry for over 30 years in Granite City at Gregory T. Jones, DMD PC. He was a fun-loving, free-spirited intellectual. Greg was known by his patients for his generosity and compassion. His family and friends knew him for his love of God and family, history, nature, birds, model trains and tanks. He was an avid reader and published author of Panzerheld, and his wife Maryann will move forward with publication in honor of his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond T. Jones.

Surviving are his wife, Maryann, nee Williamson, Jones, whom he married on April 11, 1981; children, Lauren (Jason) Bockhorst of Washington, Mo., and Evan (Kaylin) Jones of Maryville, Ill.; his mother, Vera, nee Mshar, Jones; his brother, Terrance Jones of Granite City, Ill.; his sister, Nancy (Stu) Rickerson of Rancho Sante Fe., Calif.; and many friends.
