MARYVILLE- Harold Gale DeShasier, 71, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Gale was born on May 21, 1947 in Granite City, IL to Harold and Mabel (Thaxton) DeShasier. He married Pamela Sumonia on December 31, 1981 in Maryville, IL. She survives and resides Maryville, IL.

Also surviving are his sisters, Dorothy Daugherty in Granite City, IL, Judy Mayes (husband, Joe) of Paducah, KY and Carol Doerfler (husband, Dennis) of St. Peters, MO; his beloved dog, Harley; and close friends, Mike Cook, Jim Morgan and Darrell Garcia and other numerous dear friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Robert Daugherty.

Gale's family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, Chaplain Jim Donahue, and their angel, Sandy Riley at Anderson Hospital for their constant care and compassion shown to him during his time there.

Gale was proudly enlisted in the United States Army from March 12, 1967 to December 21, 1971, serving two tours during the Vietnam War. He worked in the gas department with Ameren Illinois from September 1986- July 2008. Gale and Pam loved to travel whenever possible. He loved their numerous trips to Colorado and visiting the various springs of Missouri. Their trips together will always be treasured memories for Pam. Gale's caring heart will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

No services will held, per Gale's wishes. Cremation rites have been accorded. Sunset Hill Funeral Home and Crematory in Glen Carbon, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
