Hazel C. "Cody" Young, nee Fike, 80, of Maryville, Ill., born March 19, 1931, in Coulterville, Ill., died at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, in Edwardsville, Ill.



Mrs. Young graduated from Pinckneyville High School in 1949, as the valedictorian. She attended SIU Carbondale majoring in zoology. He volunteer activities included: Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and the Collinsville High School Band.



Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Jonne" Young; parents, Fred Fike and Alethea, nee Curnutt; brothers, Thomas "Keith" Fike, Albert "Al" Fike, Favre Fike and Wilbur "Bill" Fike; and sisters, Dorothy Wise and Clarice Batson.



Surviving are her children, Scott (Andrea) Young of Maryville, Ill., Jon Young of Kettering, Ohio and Kate (Jon) Tegtmeier of Edwardsville, Ill.; grandsons, Simon Young of Maryville, Ill., and Tyler Young of Maryville, Ill.; and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Clutts of Coulterville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Hancock officiating. Interment in Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville, Ill.
