Helen Marie Hungate, nee Sawalich, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sept. 7, 1923, in Belleville, Ill., died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.



Mrs. Hungate was a retired federal employee. She was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church and NARFE for many years.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hungate; parents, William and Ella Mina, nee Meier, Sawalich; sisters, Ellouise Barranco and Lorene Rea; and brothers, George and Eugene Sawalich.



Surviving are her son, Michael Hungate of O'Fallon, Mo.; three daughters, Patricia Hungate of Collinsville, Ill., Deborah Harshany of Collinsville, Ill., and Becky (Tim) Kalb of Troy, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Frawley, Matthew Gorsuch, Richard (Nicole) Harshany and Kasi Kalb; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Meadow Heights Baptist Church, Collinsville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the church with Rev. Jim Donahue officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
