Obituary

Helen Marie Emling, 94, of Collinsville, Ill., born Nov. 25, 1919, in DuQuoin, Ill., passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Mrs. Emling was a member of the Priscilla Circle and the First United Methodist Church. For 10 years she was employed as a secretary at North Junior High in Collinsville. She also did bookkeeping in DuQuoin. Helen enjoyed sewing and quilting but her family was the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger E. Emling, whom she married on Nov. 30, 1944; a son, David Emling; her parents, George and Eula, nee Holt, Rice; two brothers, Howard Wisley and Earl Rice; and a sister, Thelma Gail.

Surviving are her daughter, Dianne (John) Carenza of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren Liliana, Andrew and Kellen.

Visitation: Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services were held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Horn officiating. Burial was at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
