Herbert Lee Johnston, 97, of Granite City, IL, passed away at home on Saturday, October 3, 2020.

He was born on February 21, 1923 in Granite City, IL and proudly served his country in the United States Army from December 7, 1942, until September 5, 1945.

Herbert was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Dorothy Johnston, his parents, Dean Johnston and Mary Hoadley, and his brother, Elmer Johnston.He is survived by his three children, Bonnie Johnston, of Granite City, IL, Mary (Leroy) Brock, of Mitchell, IL, Brenda (Kenneth) Hahn, of Camdenton, IL, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 from 11 am-1 pm with a graveside service following at 1:15 pm at Sunset Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 50 Fountain Dr. Glen Carbon, IL, 62034.
