Herman Travis Jr., 68, of Collinsville, Ill., born Saturday, Oct. 12, 1946, in Rayville, La., passed away at 9:58 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Travis retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill. His favorite Bible verse was 1 Corinthians.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Hattie, nee Russell, Travis Sr.; and a sister, Lois Travis.
Surviving are his wife, Diane, nee Hoskin, Travis of Collinsville, Ill.; three daughters, Loretta (Eldridge) Harmon of Collinsville, Ill., Sadie Travis of Collinsville, Ill., and Carolyn (Perry Roach) Travis of Virginia; four sons, Henry M. (Michelle) Travis of Collinsville, Ill., Herman (Rachel) Travis III of O'Fallon, Ill., Samuel (Katrina) Travis of O'Fallon, Ill., and Steven (Jan) Travis of Collinsville, Ill.; two brothers, Jessie (Meshille) Travis of Edwardsville, Ill., and James Travis of Iowa; a sister, Floretta Travis of Chicago, Ill.; his nephew, Marcus Travis of Mississippi; 28 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
