Obituary

Homer "Butch" L. Wyatt , of Highland Illinois, passed away on Saturday September 16, 2023 at the age of 73. He was born on March 28th, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents, Norman and Myrtle Irene Wyatt.


Butch loved to fish. He spent many evenings on his porch with his brother William, just talking about their next fishing adventure. A big outdoors man, he also loved camping. Butch and his family have many memories of their trips to the Illinois river and Grassy Missouri. Memories that are so fondly cherished by family and friends. His other hobbies included trucks, and the farm that he shared with his wife Linda in Highland. He spent his time raising chickens, and also had some fun keeping the Hawks away. Some of his favorite moments of all were spending time with his Grand-Children.


Homer was a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Highland Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1967, where he spent 6 years graciously serving his country. A  proud Veteran, he was honorably discharged due to being wounded in Vietnam, and awarded a Purple Heart. An award that he and his family cherish to this day. Homer worked at the St. Louis Highway Department for several years, where he eventually retired.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Moore) Wyatt, Sons Jason Wyatt and Timothy McCallister, brothers Larry Wyatt and Norman E. Wyatt, and sister Linda Beatte.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother William (Judy) Wyatt, sons James (Janice) McCallister, Lee McCallister, his Grandchildren Jason McQuary, Cassandra Owens, Amanda McCallister, Matthew McCallister, Nicholas McCallister, Taylor McCallister, Tessla McCallister, Christopher Szakasi, his Great-Grandchildren Jason McQuary Jr, Ayla Martin, Gemma Martin, Kendon McCallister, Paxton McCallister and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and family.


Services for Mr. Homer L. Wyatt will be held at Herr Funeral Home on 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, IL, 62234, on Friday, September 29th, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10am - 12pm, with service starting at 12pm. Homer will be laid to rest following his funeral service at St. John's Cemetery, Collinsville, Illinois, 62234.
