Obituary

Ida Mae Doolin, 96, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully at her residence on November 4, 2025.

Ida was born on October 3, 1929, in Ward, Arkansas, to parents Joseph and Minnie Lee (nee Milam) Kinison. She married the love of her life, Herbert Doolin, on November 11, 1950. They remained together until his passing on December 2, 2009.

Ida retired from the Army Records Center in Overland, MO, about 30 years ago. Prior to that she worked as a legal secretary in a law firm and took phone orders for Spiegel Catalogue in St. Louis, MO. She loved to garden and tend to the yard in her spare time, with a special love for Irises. Herbert had a love for riding motorcycles, something Ida wasn't quite on board with in the beginning, but by their later years, you could catch her riding with him - sporting her own leather jacket.

Her faith was important to her as she was a longtime congregational member of the Calvary Life Church in Granite City, IL. In more recent time, she attended Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, IL, with her daughter, Paula. She was also a proud member of the CWU - Christian Women United.

Ida is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Minnie; husband, Herbert; sister, Shirley Pruit; and brother, David Kinison. Surviving are her children, Paula Berger of Collinsville, IL, Patrick (Toni) Doolin of Fallon, NV, Joseph (Anna) Doolin of Chula Vista, CA, and Gail (David) Pauline of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. All who knew Ida loved her and will miss her dearly.

A visitation has been scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the chapel of Sunset Hill Funeral Home with a service on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11 a.m.; after which we will proceed to graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Pastor Mark Maynard of the Calvary Life Church will be presiding. After the graveside service, friends and family are invited to a luncheon at The Meadow Heights Baptist Church - 1498 Vandalia St, Collinsville, IL 62234.
