Irene L. Maney (nee: Vallar), age 95 of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully with family at her side, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, 11:50 a.m. at her residence.

She was born October 12, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (nee: Albright) Vallar.

She married Maurice Maney on February 14, 1950 in Arkansas.  He preceded her in death.  She later married Charlie Franklin in October, 2008.  He preceded her in death in 2017.

Prior to retirement, Irene was a secretary in the Physical Education Department at East St. Louis School District #189.

She attended St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caseyville, and will be remembered for her Catholic Faith and the love of her family.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by 4 children and their spouses; Timothy (Margie Mansell) Maney of Payson, AZ., Matthew (Linda Robertson) Maney of Collinsville, IL. John Maney of Collinsville, IL. Martha (Michael Moore) Maney of St. Louis, MO. One Granddaughter; Elizabeth (Vince) Bibeau of Swansea, IL. 3 Nieces, 1 Nephew, other extended family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a son; Richard Maney and by a brother; George Vallar.

Irene loved many sports and played volleyball, tennis and golf.  She was an avid card player in a pinochle club for over 50 years and she later learned to enjoy the card game Bridge.  Also her children will have many memories of her competitive spirit in all the backyard games. Most importantly, she valued her Catholic faith and believed the best was yet to come.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 28, 2022, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 901 S. Main St., Caseyville, Illinois, from 10:30 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Harold Fisher, O.M.I. as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
