Irma M. Yates, 92, born in Harrisburg PA, on May 17, 1932, passed away on March 4, 2025. She was a former resident of Alhambra, IL and more recently resided at Addington Place of Shiloh. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Amelia Moss.

Irma was active with thoroughbred racehorses for many years, successfully racing her horses at Arlington International Race Course and Hawthorne Racetrack in Chicago. She loved horses and as a young woman participated in horse shows in barrel racing. She was a true animal lover, having had many dogs and cats throughout the years.

Irma worked full-time until she was 85 years old, when she retired from Spectrulite after having worked for the company for 60 plus years.

Irma is survived by her brothers, Gilbert (Joan) of Fairview Heights, IL, and Thomas of Elyria, OH; and sisters, Barbara Ward of Grafton, OH, and Sharon (Bruce) Shamblin of Big Springs, WV; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Yates, sister Dorothy Kresse, and brother Robert Moss.

There will be no services, Irma will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks with her husband, Herb.
