Jack L. Kime , 88, passed away in Belleville, Illinois on Monday, February 27, 2023. Jack was born on September 20, 1934 in New Albany, Indiana , to parents Joseph G. and Minnie (nee Johnson) Kime .

Jack married Kathryn (nee Curry) on March 14, 1982 in New Mexico. They enjoyed 40 wonderful years together.

He was a retired veteran of the United States Army and served for 2 1 years. He bravely served in Germany during the Cold War, and in both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. In addition, he served at numerous stateside locations.

He continued his service to his country as a civilian in the areas of training and personnel development, and taught History and English as an adjunct professor at Cochise Community College in Arizona. In retirement, he served as a substitute teacher for Collinsville Unit 10.

Jack was a Master Mason, and a member of the Collinsville Masonic Lodge 712 . He was a Mason for 61 years and a 35-year member of the Scottish Rite . He was also a member of the Collinsville American Legion and the Collinsville VFW. He attended Methodist c hurch es in Maryville and Troy, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Minnie Kime , and his siblings Joseph Kime , Jr.; Marily n Gudgeon; and William Kime .

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Kathryn Kime , siblings, Doris Thomas; Carolyn Evans; and David (Connie) Kime ; children, Brenda Findley (William); Gordon Kime (Sandy); Michael Kime ; and Christy Scarbrough (Dustin); two grandchildren, Michael Goetz (Kara); and Tasha Chasson (Greg); and four great-grandsons, Zachary Chasson, Carter Chasson, Gunnar Goetz, and Guthrie Goetz.

Services for Jack will be held at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street in Collinsville, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8: 0 0 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 , with a Masonic service to follow at 8:30 p.m . Funeral services will be held at 1 0:30 a.m. on March 8, 2023, followed by i nterment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
