James Anthony Burgess, 46, of Collinsville, IL, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on November 10, 2025.

He was born on June 15, 1979, in Maryville, IL, to parents Edward Burgess and Brenda Hill.

James was best described as a simple kind of guy who never had an ill intent towards anyone. He was the type of person who was kind to just about anyone he ever met. His greatest memories in life came from his relationships with his loved ones. He loved going on family camping trips and being in the outdoors with his friends. James always made it a point to remember the good times. With his passing, may we all take a page out of his book and remember the good times shared with him.

James is survived by his father, Edward Burgess, Jr.; mother, Brenda (Jeff Rogers) Hill; brother, Dustin Burgess; and many more family members that he cherished deeply.

No services are planned at this time, but donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention .
