Obituary

James L. Hill, 54, of Maryville, Ill., born Aug. 25, 1958, in Phoenix, Ariz., died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Jim retired as an executive with France Mechanical Corp., after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid fan of many sports, but NASCAR racing was at the top of the list. He was a fan of Tony Stewart, and his brother of Jeff Gordan with friendly wagers on the outcome. Jim had love for animals and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Hill and Elizabeth, nee King, Patrick; and a great-nephew, Evan David Allen.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda, nee Hale, Hill, whom he married on Aug. 13, 2003; two sons, Dustin R. Burgess of Maryville, Ill., and James A. Burgess of Maryville, Ill.; a brother, David (Debra) Hill of Edwardsville, Ill.; a step-sister, Emily Santoni of Edwardsville, Ill.; and his nieces, Daven (Nathen) Allen, their children, Noah and Chase, and Kristen (Warren) Aplin, and their child, Olivia.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill., with Pastor Myra Gummersheimer officiating. As a token of the family's appreciation for the kindness and support that has been shown to them, there will be a gathering following the memorial service at France Mechanical Corporations, 25 Kettle River Dr., Glen Carbon, Ill.
