James Robert Hubert, 87, of Granite City, IL passed away on Friday, December, 3, 2021 at his home.

James 'Jim' was born on January 21,1934 in Farm Ridge Township, IL., the son of Frederick and Hazel Roberts Hubert. He attended school there and graduated from Minonk Dana Rutland HS in 1952. He married Sylvia Suarez of Depue, IL. on June 11,1960 in a ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Depue, IL. They were happily married for 61 1/2 years. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia. Two sons: Robert (Cheryl) of Kannapolis, NC and Joel (Carol) of Glen Carbon, IL. A daughter, Lori Voelkel (Steve) of Troy, IL. Three grandchildren: Savana, Natalie and Kyra. Two sisters: Patsy Dagesse of Knoxville, TN and Kathy Geiselman of El Paso, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack and Fred, and sisters Betty, Marge and Judy.

He was an avid fan of airshows, camping, fishing, hunting, horse racing, professional football and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jim joined the US Air Force in 1952 and served for two years.  He worked for UPS and as an insurance agent for Western and Southern Life, Missouri Farms Association, Transport and eventually retiring from United Van Lines.

A Funeral  Service will be held on Friday, December 10th at 12 noon at the Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Dr, Glen Carbon, IL. Family and friends may attend a visitation with the family on Friday, December 10 th , from 10:00 a.m until  noon, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of a memorial, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in James Hubert's name.
