James Steven Kolda, Age 82, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on February 10, 2025.

He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 31, 1942, to Joseph and Barbara (nee Adam) Kolda.

He worked for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis and retired with AT&T in Belleville, Illinois in 2004.

After he retired from the phone company, James went to work as a greeter for Walmart and worked for them from 2007-2022.

James had several hobbies including working in his vegetable garden.

He loved reading and watching movies.

James was a dedicated Science Fiction Fan (Star Trek).

He is survived by wife; Judith Kolda, children; Kimberly (Trent) Kolda-Dittmer, Victoria (Todd) Crook, granddaughter; Eliana (Jordan) Olive.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for James will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from the chapel of Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Family will receive friends from 10:00am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
