James Edward Miller, 75, of Troy, passed away at 7:25 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital.

Mr. Miller was born December 7, 1948 in Urbana, IL, a son of the late Hans and Clydith Miller.

He married the love of his life, Maryann Astuto on September 23, 1972 and she preceded him in death on Sept 3, 2014.

In addition to his wife and parents, his 7 siblings also preceded him in death, Shirley Piatt, Carol Rexroat, Betty Burgess Johnson, Herman (Bud) Miller, Hans (John) Miller Jr. and Linda (Susie) Miller.

Surviving are his children, James Miller II of Troy, Joshua Miller of Glen Carbon, and Rachel (Tony) Paolucci of Collinsville; His 4 grandchildren, Sarah Miller, Dominic, Giovanni and Vincent Paolucci, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Miller graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and worked for McDonald Douglas & Siemens for 40+ years. He was a member of the Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville.

Jim was an avid Cubs & Colts fan. He enjoyed decorating for the holidays, collecting gemstones, reading and learning about history, and definitely spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and his love for his family.

Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2024 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon from 5 pm to 8 pm. There will be a service at 6:30 pm with Pastor Jim Robinson presiding.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners, an organization that meant a lot to him and will be collected at the Funeral Home.
