James William Mumper, 91 from Largo FL died 7/24/2021 peacefully surround by his children at Largo Medical Center, Largo FL. Jim was born in Collinsville, IL on 8/31/1929 to James and Helen nee Lechowicz.
Jim began his career with the Collinsville Herald as a paperboy. In 1947, he became a full time employee with different jobs throughout his career. He ended his career at the Herald as a typesetter. When Jim wasn't at the Herald or fishing he was always looking for new adventures. With his wife, Gerry they began their own cleaning service for the local business around town When the Jaycees decided to drop their holiday flag business, for 6 months he signed up businesses to sponsor having an American flag placed in front of their business. In 1983, Jim retired after 36 years and headed to Clearwater, Florida with Gerry to start their laundry business. In 2018, after losing his wife he retired from the laundry business but stayed active up to the day he entered the hospital by helping his neighbor's.
Besides his parents and his wife Geraldine nee Doyle Mumper, he is proceeded in death by 6 siblings, Emma, Donald, Virginia, Delores, Thomas and Barbara.
He is survived by his children, Kathy (Gary) Bathon of Lebanon, IL; J. Danny (Kathy) Mumper of Collinsville, IL, and Diane (Jeffery) Seymore of Edwardsville, IL; four grandchildren, Kari Porter, Jami Mumper, Erin (Jacob) Goebel and Jeffery (Becky) Seymore, II. and nine great-grandchildren, Reese Porter, Joshua and Sara Goebel, Cade Williams, Cody Markle, Kaitlyn Markle-Seymore, Devin, Jeffery, III and Addison Seymore and his 10 siblings, Ruth Ann, Norma, Kenneth, Robert, Earl, Nancy, Patricia, Bonnie, Sandra and Vickie and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, Illinois. Funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to American Heart Associations.
