James R. Schmitz, 81, a lifetime resident of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on Sunday September 3, 2017 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. James was born in Highland, Illinois on January 13, 1936, the son of the late Tyrus and Anita nee Mathis Schmitz.
James retired as a Design Engineer from Kribs Associates in St. Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed blues music, was a history buff, and enjoyed cars -- especially his 1969 Camero and watching the Indianapolis 500.
James is survived by his wife Suzanne nee Tevebaugh of Collinsville, Illinois whom he married December 27, 1959, daughters Cary (Tim) Harvengt of Collinsville, Illinois, Katey (Dan) Chu of Maryville, Illinois and grandchildren Melanie, Andrew, Brendan and Blake.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer''s Association: www.alz.org , and condolences may be expressed at www.hewrrfuneral.com.
Private services for the family to be conducted.
