James H. Spreter, 73, of Maryville, Ill., born May 16, 1940 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013.
Jim and his wife Pat owned and operated The Pantry Market and Caboose in Collinsville, Ill. for 12 years. Jim worked for Granite City Steel for 40 years. He was a retired crane operator. He also worked for Local 520 Operating Engineers. His favorite hobbies were his antique 1960 Plymouth Fury and collecting trains. He also loved to take train trips around the country with his wife and friends. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren watching their sports events and many other things.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Estelle, nee Walk, Spreter; and brother, Jackie Spreter.
Jim was a beloved husband to Pat, nee Grisetti, Spreter of Maryville, Ill., whom he married on July 7, 1962. He was father of Lance Spreter of Maryville, Ill., and Wendy (Kasey Kapp) Spreter of Maryville, Ill.; grandfather to Chandler Kapp and Samantha Spreter of Maryville, Ill. Jim is also survived by sister, Betty McGee of Granite City, Ill.; nieces, Sherl Walkenbach of Granite City, Ill., Ashley and Erica Kuehnel of Granite City, Ill. and Cerria Heinemeier; and his faithful friend, Sasha the dog.

Funeral: Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Joseph Havrilka officiating.
